From a Russian newspaper:
AFTER A VACATION

What can be more romantic than a trip to the mountains?
The 15 year old Moscovite, 1986 world champion, Katia Gordeeva has just returned for such a vacation. She says:
"The mountaineering is necessary for us figure skaters. From the top of the mountain there is beauty. We -- with Sergei Grinkov, he is my partner -- have spent several weeks this summer on the coast of Issyk Kul. We have heard lots of stories about the traveler Nikolai Przhevalski and about the lake.
"Our coach, Stanislav Alekseevich Zhuk, a master in skin diving, treated us to fishing.
"We had a fine rest! We listened to music for future programs, prepared new elements, and ran cross-country. And we constantly went to the mountains. It was hard to do and we decided to do it. The goal was to get to Budyonny's Helmet. It was cold and was hard on our lungs. And in the mountains a burian flew by. It snowed, then rained. We hid under bushes. It was a great adventure. And we returned to the lake happy.
"We came back to Moscow in a great mood, and performed four days later in Luzhniki in honor of the Goodwill Games."
"And what do you do other than figure skating? What do you do after school?"
"I love literature and music. Often I read verses and Pushkin's poems. I re-read Dyuma novels."
"Seriozha is five years older than you. He is a student at the Institute of Physical Culture. He probably supports you?"
"Yes isn't right. More likely, I support him. I watch to make sure he wasn't late for the bus during competitions or for dinner. In our pair, I am more of the supply manager...."
....Champions have returned from rest. Everyday work life begins!
